The events in Boston brought the tug 'o war scenario to mind once more. Events like this begin when an individual or a group of individuals step onto the playing field and pick up the energetic rope. There is no way of knowing what may bring them to that point, but most of us are going about our business, blissfully unaware of the energy building on the field. To get us to engage in the "game", they create a violent scenario to get our attention; it works and our reactions are immediate!
I believe it's important to understand that if we respond with hate, anger or even fear ("I'm afraid to go to public events now"), we energetically pick up the other end of the rope and start pulling. The pulling goes back and forth, no one ever "winning" the game. If we focus instead on the outpouring of support, compassion, love and peace these events bring about, the other end of the rope is never picked up and the tug 'o war never takes place. This works on an individual level and on a global scale. When the rope is left on the ground (or dropped as soon as we realize we've picked it up) the game ends. It's time to let peace reign in our hearts and in our world.
