The story of Treetop Yoga actually begins in 1995; the year we bought the land. After closing on the sale, we went to the lot to celebrate and Jim proposed. Two years later, we were getting ready to build our home. I called a close friend with concerns about going through the building process (since we were building it ourselves) when we were so newly married; I had heard lots of stories! She called back a few days later and told me that the building process would go smoothly (it did) and that our home was meant to be ~ that it would be a place of love! How prophetic that truly was!
I had been teaching and practicing yoga for several years when the idea for an in-home yoga studio came to me in November of 2009. I suggested it to Jim and he said he’d think about it. Several weeks later he was getting bids for building out the space; Jim finished the studio and the first class was held in February of 2010!
It was started as a place to bring yoga to people who lived near us; not much of a vision beyond that. Jim had an amazing experience that year at a sound healing concert and shortly after, started down the road of energy work by becoming a Reiki master. We added workshops and events and soon the studio was expanding in ways we hadn’t imagined! As our knowledge and understanding has grown, our vision for the space has evolved yet remained simple: We wish to offer a space, a community, where people feel safe, loved and supported on their life journey.
Our support staff...
Treetop Yoga is a family business. In all aspects of our life, our four-footed family members lend their support and energy to everything we do. When our guests are open to it, we invite our dogs, Katie and Sawyer, to hold space during yoga classes. The dogs and an occasional cat or two may join us for events, as well.
